Conrad Scott is a gripping novella that explores the depths of human resilience and the stark reality of survival in a world on the brink of collapse. Set in a desolate landscape where remnants of humanity clash against the forces of nature and their own fractured morality, the story follows Conrad Scott, a man hardened by loss and haunted by the ghosts of his past. In his quest to reclaim hope amidst despair, Conrad embarks on a journey across a ravaged terrain, encountering allies and enemies who challenge his beliefs and force him to confront the demons within.
Through sparse, gritty prose reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy, Sean Patrick Sayers crafts a haunting narrative that is both poetic and visceral. Readers are drawn into a world where every moment pulses with tension, and the smallest victories resonate with profound meaning.
Critical Praise:
"Sean Patrick Sayers masterfully blends the raw power of a post-apocalyptic setting with the intimate struggles of a man searching for redemption. Conrad Scott is as brutal as it is beautiful, a must-read for fans of literary fiction that lingers long after the final page."
"Dive into Conrad Scott, where survival is not just about enduring the world around you, but the battle within."
"Conrad Scott is an unflinching dive into the raw edges of the human spirit. Sean Patrick Sayers weaves a tale of survival and redemption that is both haunting and deeply moving. The stark beauty of the prose captures the desolation of the world and the resilience of its characters with breathtaking precision. A remarkable debut that lingers in the mind long after the final page."

Regaining consciousness after a collision with a tree, Conrad Scott awakens to a world plunged into chaos. The massive injuries he and his wife sustained are minor compared to the anarchy and social disintegration that is now the norm, firmly established around them. The world has lost all electrical resources which has effectively stripped society of every service that it typically took for granted. What caused this is something that Conrad is duty-bound to discover. His appearance gives him the edge, as he strives to make sense of the world around him. His injuries from the accident serve him well in this new world where you need every means possible in order to live through the day.
The world is a place of unimaginable horrors, not the least of which is cannibalism. Degradation and disorder reign, as each person fights for the right to live. One cannot imagine friendship in this cruel place, and yet, despite all odds, it can be found. The story contains graphic detail as horrific cruelty is encountered along the road that Conrad must travel. His daughter is missing amid the chaos, and he frantically holds on to finding her alive. He is driven by his grief and the massive losses he has suffered. His quest is to save as many as he can and re-establish order.
The book gives a chilling account of how quickly we, as humans, can become vicious, self-sustaining brutes when our very survival is being threatened. We best hope that we are never privy to this horror - that it never becomes our reality. Powerful. Horrific. Nevertheless, a real page-turner.
